What is the best kind of thermometer to get to measure the exterior air temperature? The suction cup kind fell off.

2 Hour roof re-caulking?

I have a roof leak in my 21' Toyota C and the local RV repair and dealership said they would re-caulk it for around $200 as it would take 2 hours. I asked if there was a warrantee and they said no, a roof needs to be re-caulked every 6 months. The last time I had it done was 3 years ago in AZ (4 hours and almost $500 and used Dycor) and the fellow guaranteed the work for one year. What questions should I be asking? Does this local guy sound ok?

RE: GPS widget

Thanks Al, I might try the google map, but the weather underground would be too cumbersome as I move often. I was thinking along the lines of something where all I need to do is enter the gps coordinates.

GPS widget

Does anyone know where I can get a "widget" to put on my web based travel blog that will show where I am located? It will help preserve the sanity of my friends and family :). I have a Garmin 780 and Windows on my laptop.

RE: Vermont as a home base?

I live in Vermont and just started full timing a month ago. For right now I am keeping VT as my home base because of my health insurance. I choose a SD mail forwarding business because they have the best. I am still a VT resident. The town clerk still lets me vote, just as long as I haven't chosen another state as my domicile. My RV is still VT registered. I have yet to decide if I will keep VT as my residence, in 2 years I will be on Medicare and can live anywhere. I like Vermont a lot and am proud to be from here and have those green tags, great conversation starter. But then again, it would save me money to be from SD. Hope this helps a little. Let me know if I can answer any other questions, feel free to PM me.

RE: class c fulltimers..maintenance questions??

Gee, I just have my local mechanic take care of the routine maintenance on my C. The same guy that does my car. No lift, he just crawls under. So far I have been very satisfied.

RE: How to get an RV to Hawaii?

Thanks everyone, you answered my question quite satisfactorily! No sense in getting one there if there is no place to use it. Guess that idea is out, oh well, maybe a B&B would be nice.

Adding a Tachometer to an old C

How easy or hard and how expensive is it to add a tachometer to a 1991 Toyota 6cyl automatic with a 22RE engine? I have to hire someone to do this. My reason for asking is that I think it would help me to save gas if I could read the RPM's like I do in my Camry.

RE: How & Where do I mount a PHS300 Router?

I finally mounted mine with velcro next to the back window where I mounted the antenna with suction cups. Both pieces are still very mobile if I want to move them somewhere else, yet they won't bounce around when I am traveling and are out of the way the rest of the time. The PHS300 has a built in battery.

RE: How many of us are waiting for the SOLD sign?

Yes, bonus for the buyer's agent helped me too. At the closing it was Cash$$$ in an envelope, didn't show up in any paperwork, don't know how it works in other states.

How & Where do I mount a PHS300 Router?

This is what a tech at 3G store (where I bought it) said: "The PHS300 doesn't have the VESA-mount, only the MBR1000 has the proper ports for this option". And another tech said: "Here is what I did with my router. On the backside of the router I got the sticky Velcro and put 3 small strips and the other end to the dashboard. The router stays put and doesn't move around." Neither one addressed my question about the holes on the back side of the router.....do these need air?
Plus I have a booster antenna to run from the router. Oh, I am driving a 1991 Class C Toyota 21'. Thanks!

RE: How much weight can the "cab over" hold?

OP here, thanks everyone. Seems unanimous not to store anything other then bedding up there. How about, since I am alone, storing 150 pounds of stuff on the passenger seat/floor? The obvious large holding areas in this unit are behind the back double wheels and I am trying to avoid weighing down the rear end. Seems the best spots are over the rear tires and between the front and rear axles, right? Oh, and low, instead of overhead.

Does anyone have experience with using this security feature

called "publicvpn"? The deal is, you sign up, pay a modest fee, then they provide you with security when you are online at public wifi locations. It is at www.publicvpn.com. Sounds like a good idea to me, but am looking for real world experience. Thanks.

How much weight can the "cab over" hold?

I have a 1991 Itasca 21' Toyota and am setting it up for Full Time travel. I want to properly distribute the weight and need to know how much I can store in the cab over. I have taken out the mattress and replaced it with a quality single bed mattress (not much difference in weight), pulled toward the edge, there is quite a gap between it and front of cab and I would like to load it with heavy items. What do you guys think? How sturdy are these things? The very front of that curve doesn't seem to be resting on anything. Thanks! Oh, just one medium weight person sleeping up there!:D
